Something to be proud of

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

As proud father of Funny Tasting Iced Tea, I am happy to say we rank first on Yahoo! when you do THIS SEARCH...As K.C. Armstrong (who phoned into Howard again today and really gave it to Tom Chiusano) used to say, NICE!!! Speaking of KC, check out his Fan Site. NICE!!!

It is no Buffalo Barfly, but The Cobrasnake is a great site***.

The NFL is almost back sports fans, Bills players report to Training Camp on Friday and in one month I will be in Las Vegas preparing for a fantasy football draft. Life is good. Also good is Peter King's Fantasy Football Preview in this weeks SI.

And did anyone else notice what number Roscoe Parrish is wearing?

And so it begins

With the new salary cap in place in the NHL the buy out of overpaid players begins. The Flyers start the party by buying out contracts of LeClair, and Amonte. This is a good time to be a Sabres fan, the fact that they anticipated this (the creation of a salary cap) over a year ago and have concentrated on signing and keeping young talent at low costs will give them a major jump start. Check out their current roster and the breakdown of players under contract, restricted free agents, and un-restricted free agents: Buffalo Sabres: Free Agent Tracker
Some of the new rules will take some getting used to, but the simple fact that they are trying to fix a broken unpopular sport finally is encouraging. And since the Bills only play September to December usually, having the Sabres competitive is a MUST in a town with no other major sports franchises and a weak College Sports scene.

Nobody Cares About Your Bad Beats

Played in a Poker tournament last night out in 14051 Zip code which is apparently the 41st nicest place to live in the US. BFD, right? I did see Dave Andreychuk at Tops while Knoebel and I picked up beer. Seeing the captain of the defending Stanley Cup champions on the same day as the NHL announces their new rule changes and picks their draft order a coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!

Anyway, back to the tournament. There were exactly 20 guys, $50 dollar buy-in, no re-buys. The top three were getting paid, the payouts were something like $500 for 1st, $350 for second $150 for 3rd. Everyone started with $1000 in chips and the blinds were 10-15 to start and raised every 1/2 hour. I started off playing EXTREMELY tight folding hands like A-10 suited in early position. I finally picked up a few nice pots and knocked the first guy out of the tournament when I flopped top pair with Jacks.
I ended up going into the final table with about $2000 in chips which actually was one of the bigger stacks. The host of the tournament was on a MAJOR rush and had over $10,000 in chips, me and 3 other guys had about the same amount and then there were a bunch of guys with $1000-$1500 in chips. Both Knoebel and Bona Friar made the final table with me, Bona Friar was short stacked and went all in with K-Qo (I think) he was called by two players and busted out in 8th. Knoebel and I made it to the final 5, I played one hand up to that point at the final table, the best hole cards I saw was Q-9o, I raised pre flop trying to steal the blinds but was put all in. I folded which pretty much made me the low stack with about $700 in chips. The blinds were 150-300, so needless to say I was going to be going all in very soon if I had any playable hand. Knoebel ended up going all in with K-Qo and got two callers, the two big stacks, he was busted in 5th when one of the callers' pocket 8's held up.
So it was me, with the low stack fighting to make the money. I finally started seeing some good cards. I went all in back to back and stole the blinds. I then won a very nice pot when I was the big blind and was dealt J-3o (I saw hands like that all night). The flop came down all low shit cards 5-7-3, I went all in with the 3's against the chip leader figuring he didn't have any piece of the flop. He called and I was right, he had Ace high and didn't catch anything. Another double up. So all of a sudden I was looking pretty good, I was no longer the short stack and I was hot. So, here comes the bad beat story. I was dealt A-9o on the button. The first guy folded I raised $1000, the chip leader called and the big blind folded. The flop came 7-9-3 rainbow. Chip leader checked and I went all in. If he folded I would have again picked up a very nice pot and would be sitting pretty. But, I wanted him to call because I was confident I had the best hand. He did call my all in, and I was right on. He had A-7o, for the middle pair. Only card that could save him was a 7. Well guess what fell on the river. You got it, 7. So I busted out in 4th, out of the money. FUCK.
All in all I played pretty good. For the most part I got cold cards, I saw Big Slick twice, and my best pocket pairs were 10's (which I did turn into a set and picked up a huge pot early on). But that was it for decent hole cards, I saw some nice suited connectors, and had some small pocket pairs but didn't flop anything. As they say that is poker. I won't be quitting my day job any time soon.

By the way Shannon Elizabeth didn't play in the tournament with us, but she does have a nice mouth.

Now, try and get it out of your head

Well, looks like Bronson Pinchot is REALLY weird in the new Surreal Life. Anyone else have to learn the "Perfect Strangers" theme song when they started taking piano lessons? Right, me neither.

Elliott Gould is very underrated. His turn in "Ocean's ELeven" was terrific.

Looks like your next United States Supreme Court Associate Justice is from BUffalo, NY.

Hola

Hello to you too, Jess.
The big move into the new house is DONE. I was tempted to write HIZ-OUSE there, but resisted, but I guess I just did it anyway, swing on it.
Anywho, Other than trying to figure out how to replace broken light sockets, spackle holes in walls, and drilling new holes with my handy dandy power drill just because I can - there is not much else to do. Of course I now have to pull weeds, mow the lawn, worry about leaky faucets, make sure I pay the mortgage on time, and blah blah blah too. Anyway, I am back online and am ready to research hot photos to post on this site. Thank You.

Random thoughts

Lot of buzz on the Net about Hillary Duff's choppers - check it out.

Who picked out Geraldo's glasses? Geez.

A stocking stuffer idea as Christmas is right around the corner.

And finally, I know we all hate the current WGR sports staff, but check out the line-up from years past - good stuff.

Run, Ron, Run

Thanks to Jamma 5000 for finding this one. Ron Moss For Buffalo Mayor. Who ever dreamt this up is brilliant, here are some of Mr. Moss' great ideas to fix our city:

"I also have a plan to extend the mass transit system to the First Ward. I will turn the old Aud into a giant coin bank. We can put a slot in the top and deposit coins from Skyway tolls. Then when it is full we can open it."
and
"I also have a simple fix for our dead Main Street. I will simply switch the names of Main Street and the Scajaquada Expressway. Main Street will once again be the busy street we were once proud of."

Now those are some creative ways to fix some of the big problems that face Buffalo. He's got my vote.

Someone out in cyber land did a google search for mike sengbusch, which lead them here. Weird.

The big move starts tomorrow, which means I will be internetless for a few days and not be around to entertain all of you, or share hot photos of Jessica Simpson. In the mean time go Tom Sartori, even though you are sort of a tool (at least that's what the Buffalo Beast tells me) and even though I am extremely jealous of you and the $250,000 minimum you'll be winning I am rooting for you to win it all.

Mike the Mouth

Wow, I can't wait for espn coverage to start - final table could be unbelieavble - look at Sartori hanging in there...right now, there are only about 30 people left I think.

How embarrassing.

BIG NEWS

Anyone else notice that Buffalo "rock star" Tom Sartori is still alive at the WSOP of poker? It's true - he was in 316th place after two days. I think I rather eat my arms off than watch Tom Sartori play acoustic guitar, but it would be great if he made it any further. You gotta root for the Buffalo natives, right?

WSOP 2005

This site seems to do a really good job of updating the Main Event out in Vegas. We're obviously going to know who wins, and all the details, well before ESPN shows the tournament. THat said, there's no way to maintain the suspense so I decided to sit in front of the compuer and follow the action closely.

Also, I watched waaaayyyy too much of the A's/White Sox game today on the Extra Innings package I have - those White Sox announcers are out of control.

Study: 96-Percent of Boston Sports Fans Have No Idea How Annoying They Are

Gotta love the Sports Pickle, they hit the nail on the head with this one.

Home Ownership, YAY!

I will FINALLY be moving next week. YAY! What a major pain in the testicles the buying a house process has been. But after Thursday I will be a homeowner. I feel very adult.

Buffalo agrees that WGR blows.

Jessica Alba thinks naked men are funny. I totally agree!

And there are not to many cooler human beings on the planet than David Hasselhoff.

Party-time

I know we all take our shots at Cameron Diaz, and I know she has been out all night for these photos, but I'm still a big fan...I wonder what she was drinking???

I have no idea what to make of THIS...what move would require such make-up??? Well, hello Mrs. Robinson.

Wedding Crashers Trailer

This is great, check it out!
Knoebel looks like Vince Vaughn!

Let's Hug it Out

Jordana Brewster is sofa king hot.

The WSOP Main Event is in full swing, check out Tao of Poker for updates. Lots of big names are gone-zo on the first day, actually they broke the 1st day into three separate days because there were over 5000 entries this year. They have to figure out a way to do some live coverage of this event.

Jason Giambi is on FIRE, he is 9 for 17 with 4 HR's in the last week. Did someone slip some roids in his Wheaties? Whatever he is doing he will need to keep it up the rest of the way, the Yanks will need him if they are going to make it to the playoffs for the 11th straight year.

I just caught up on all the episodes of Entourage and I must say that this season is even better than the first. The plot is GREAT this time around. The first season was pretty good, but it didn't really have much in the way of a story line. I watched it more for the party scenes, the hot babes, and Jeremy Piven who is friggin brilliant. The current season is actually intriguing, there are even more hot babes, and Piven is even better. Very good show.

Flip Cups

THIS GUY has some mad skills. If I were half as good as that I probably would have gotten laid waaaaay more than I did when visiting Geneseo. For the record I got laid zero times in Geneseo, but those girls loved to hook up with guys who were good at drinking games. There was definitely a direct correlation between my success at flip cups and gettin' some lovin' down there. link via TWS.

This is a few days old but I just ran across it. It looks like Alan Pergament of The Buffalo News and SUPER SMART Mike SCHOPP of WGR have been getting into a little bit of a pissing match, lately. Apparently Pergament criticized Schopp and BULLdog about discussing more pop culture than sports. The real zinger in the article was the comparison to Shredd and Regan, ouch! Well, Alan Pergament I disagree, I much rather listen to Bulldog, Jerry Sullivan, and Brad K. Riter mercifully rip on the Yankees - which by the way is another GREAT move by WGR to attract the thousands of Yankee fans who live in Buffalo and might actually listen to them if WGR didn't do their best impression of a Boston sports radio station.
I can not wait for Schopp and Bulldog's Buffalo Bills post game show after home games, though. There is nothing better than the drunk Bills fans discussing a win, loss, or tie.

And is anyone going to see Into the Blue because it looks like a good movie?

Bunny Lebowski

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. I ended up celebrating the independence of our great country by drinking too much Friday (14 Miller lights and a Vodka Tea), and Sunday (16 Labatt's Blue Lights). Saturday I gave it the old college try (4 Vodka Cranberrys aka Cape Codders), but because I can rarely put together two big party days in a row anymore I passed out at 10pm. I made up for it though Sunday and had a good fry on from 5pm until about 1am when my head finally hit the pillow. If it weren't for my super great girlfriend I may be in bed right now working off a 2 day hangover. That's what great girlfriends are for. Yesterday was alcohol free, thank the baby jesus. Instead of sitting in the sun and drinking all day I sat in my sweltering apartment and watched the Yankees blow a 6 run lead, and then come back to beat the O's. Giambi hit two hr's baby, could he be the second half player of the year? Probably not. So it is back to reality, and it is also back to spot the fake breasts.

The Dead, dude.

The Buffalo News had a pretty cool article on the The Grateful Dead and their new cd/dvd Truckin Up to Buffalo the other day. Apparently The Dead played at Rich Stadium back on July 4th, 1989, and it was like a totally awesome concert, dude. Its pretty cool that Buffalo is regarded as having a very large loyal Grateful Dead fan base...O.K, Maybe that is not so cool, but I might still buy it since I have absolutely nothing better to spend my money on these days.

Jeff Meiers of The News also ranks Ten Great Moments in Buffalo rock concert history. What no Van Halen at The Aud back in 91? I was going to find a link to get an exact date, but there is barely any information on Van Halen on the internet, go figure. I did find this sweet Eddie Van Halen site though.
