Let's Go Buffalo
So another NFL season in the books, another playoff-less season for the Bills. Here are some thoughts on what the Bills need to do in the off season.
1. Cut Bledsoe. The Bills will never win a Superbowl with Drew Bledsoe as their QB, let alone win a playoff game. They need to cut him, save what they can on the cap, get JP Losman ready for next year and move on. JP will have his rough outings, but if he is the QB that they think will take them to the promised land then the start of 2005 is as good time as any to throw him in there.
2. Trade Henry for whatever you can get. If they can get a 3rd round pick for Travis then take it and don't look back. McGahee is a stud, and Shaud Williams is a good change of pace RB. There is no sense in having an unhappy Travis Henry on the roster.
3. Keep the defense intact. They have got to sign Pat Williams and keep the core of the defense together for 2005. If they are to make the playoffs it will be because of a strong defense.
4. Improve the offensive line. They will most like lose Jonas Jennings in Free Agency. Fine, let him go, he is hurt way to often, and will not be worth the money that teams are going to throw at him. Move Mike Williams over to left tackle, try and get a quality right tackle in free agency and think about drafting some O-Line depth. The Bills need to have a ball control power running game if they are going to do anything next year. It starts with the O-Line.
There you have it. Four things I think will help the Buffalo Bills for next year. Obviously it will be tough to win the AFC East with the Patriots looking down at us, but there is some serious talent on this team and the playoffs are the next step after a promising 2004.
